Journalist David Coimbra, who had been battling kidney cancer since 2013,  died at the age of 60 in Porto Alegre, this Friday (27). The information was confirmed by the newspaper  GZH,  where David worked. The columnist leaves a wife and a 14-year-old son.

David had already traveled to Boston, in the United States, in an attempt to treat cancer with an experimental procedure. Soon after the diagnosis, the journalist began to write a book about his experiences, pain, and experiences with cancer.

“Today I beat cancer” was released in 2018 and tells from the discovery to the treatments that David performed.

During his career, Coimbra worked in newspapers such as Correio do Povo, Diário Catarinense, Jornal da Manhã, Jornal NH and Jornal de Santa Catarina. In addition, he has worked on radio stations Eldorado and Guaíba and RCE TV. In his career, he became famous for his sports chronicles and currently wrote for the newspaper Zero Hora, GZH and participated in the programs Timeline and Sala de Redação, on Rádio Gaúcha.

In addition to being a journalist, David has written books of chronicles, novels, and historical essays.
