Floyd Sneed Death: Obituary, Cause Of Death, Funeral

Floyd Sneed, the 80-year-old drummer for Three Dog Night, passed away on January 29, 2023. His demise was announced on the group’s Facebook page.

“Three Dog Night is devastated to hear about Floyd Sneed’s departure. Floyd was a darling of a man, a unique individual, and a beautiful human being. He was also an incredibly original drummer who contributed greatly to the sound of Three Dog Night. With his incredible technique, Floyd influenced countless other drummers and broke through many barriers in music and culture.

Floyd Sneed’s deteriorating health caused his death. Social media was filled with condolences following the drummer’s passing. Everyone misses him and remembers him. The family may later make funeral arrangements public

“All of us in the band, as well as the numerous musicians, artists, and other people he inspired throughout his life, will miss him dearly. Floyd, rest in peace.”

In 1966, Sneed formed his band and moved to Los Angeles, California. A trio of vocalists under contract with Dunhill Records, Danny Hutton, Chuck Negron, and Cory Wells, were looking for backup musicians in 1968.

The new band they formed, Three Dog Night, enjoyed mainstream success in the late 1960s and early to mid-1970s. Sneed merged with the crew. With the band, Sneed only contributed to one song, “Joy to the World,” singing the lyric “I want to tell you.”

After Three Dog Night split up in 1977, he continued to play with other bands, going on a lengthy tour with The Ohio Players. He worked with additional Three Dog Night supporting members in the short-lived band S.S. Fools.

In addition to touring and recording with K.A.T.T. in 2002, he also formed his band, Same Dog New Tricks. Sneed and Joe Schermie, the original bassist for Three Dog Night, appeared on Tom Riehl’s cooking show Food Rules in 2000. This was Schermie’s last televised appearance.
