Eric Mumford, who was well-known for being Lynn Toler’s husband, has suddenly passed away. On Friday, December 23, 2022, social media platforms published Eric Mumford’s death.

In the United States, Eric Paul Mumford was born on January 1, 1951. At the Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts of Washington University in St. Louis, Eric is the Rebecca and John Voyles Professor of Architecture. Additionally, he is a Faculty Scholar at the Institute of Public Health and holds honorary posts in the Departments of Art History and Archaeology and History of Art and Science.

Mumford earned a degree in architecture from Harvard University in 1980, a master’s from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1983, and a doctorate from Princeton University in 1996. He served as the visiting committee head for the Harvard Graduate School of Design from 2011 to 2014.

His publications includes, Designing the Modern City: Urbanism Since 1850, published in 2018; CIAM Discussions on Urbanization, 1928-1960, published in 2000; Modern Architecture in St. Louis: Washington University and Postwar American Architecture, 1948-1973, published in 2004, Josep Llu’s Sert: Urban Planning Architects, published in 2008, Defining Urban Design: CIAM Architects and the Formation of a Discipline, published in 2009, and published in The Writings of Josep Ll (2015).

He worked as a Fulbright Urban Planning Specialist at the Pontifical Catholic University of Lima, Peru, in 2013, and the MIT Global Consortium for the Teaching of Architectural History awarded him a collaboration grant in 2014.

In the new Tadao Ando-designed gallery in Chicago, Alphawood Exhibitions, he served as curator and catalog editor for the Le Corbusier department.
