Schmidt began her career in Chicago, on Univision’s Telefutura, and later was a presenter for Univision’s newscasts and later worked on Telemundo.
In 2013, she was fired from Telemundo, apparently due to problems with alcohol, and in 2014 she expressed in an interview in Despierta América: “You can get ahead one day at a time … the taboo that exists is very difficult -particularly with women – the stigma that exists towards alcoholics.
