On Thursday morning, a fatal eight-car collision on Interstate 95 claimed the life of a well-known Liberty City businessman and activist.
Danny Agnew has been named as the victim. Danny Agnew reportedly died due to injuries he acquired in the tragic accident.
Incident details:
Agnew, the driver of the Tesla, is thought to have struck a concrete barrier at around 2:10 in the morning before coming to a stop in the middle of the road.
According to Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Alex Camacho, a Dodge vehicle struck the Tesla, causing its driver to be ejected. While slowing down to avoid hitting the Tesla driver, the driver of a white Nissan was struck by a Chevrolet S.U.V.
The Nissan was thrust forward due to the incident and ran over the victim, according to Camacho.
Following that, “a series of minor crashes occurred” involving various automobiles, including a tow truck.

Most notably, the late Agnew co-founded The Roots Collective, a company that offers space for entrepreneurs through the Roots Black House and sells clothing that promotes Black empowerment. The organization has prioritized increasing Black ownership and creating wealth with a social conscience since its establishment.
Agnew supported the organization’s objective to remain firmly rooted in communities of color. He also collaborated with other groups with similar goals to expand an activist enclave near Northwest 54th Street and Seventh Avenue.
