The writer Anne Rice, author of the literary series Vampiric Chronicles, has died this Sunday at the age of 80 in a hospital after not being able to overcome the complications derived from a stroke, as reported by her family on social networks.
Rice (New Orleans, 1941), whose real name is Howard Allen O’Brien, has sold more than one hundred million copies worldwide. Her work includes the Vampire Chronicles – which includes the books Interview with the Vampire and Lestat the Vampire -, The Mayfair Witches, and New Vampire Stories, among the almost 30 books she wrote.
In 2009, the writer published the first novel in the Angelic Chronicles saga entitled La hora del angel, a metaphysical ‘thriller’ about angels and murderers. Three years later, she changed the register with the book El Don del Lobo, in which a young reporter is attacked by a beast that cannot distinguish between the darkness of night.
In addition, Rice produced a reinterpretation of the gospels in her series The Messiah: The Jewish Child, a novel based on the life of Jesus, after publicly declaring in 1998 his conversion to Christianity after years defending atheism.
