The voices of witnesses to the accident in San Ysidro

“If I looked at the impact of the car, I ran and I didn’t realize it anymore, that’s why I tell you that here you need authority because if there were authority, people would stay on the sidelines at a distance,” said Lidia Cantera, a merchant in the San Ysidro for 15 years and witness of the brutal crash, in dialogue with Telemundo 20 .

For her part, Miriam Hernández, who has been visiting the San Ysidro gate every day for three years, said in dialogue with the aforementioned media that she knew the 49-year-old woman who died.

“Always in the morning she would come and I would say ‘hello ma, hello daughter, here’, she gave me a sweet, and in the afternoon she would say ‘daughter God bless you, ma I’m going, yes daughter'”, said Hernandez.

Vehicular chaos in the Garita de San Ysidro

The impressive accident at the Garita de San Ysidro generated long lines of cars waiting to cross from Mexico to the United States.

According to Infobae Mexico , motorists had to wait up to three and a half hours to get to the border crossing.

Another witness to the fatal crash in San Ysidro told Telemundo 20 that another vehicle incident had already happened a day before at the San Ysidro gate, which he attributed to the rush for being the days before Christmas.

“The truth is that people are well stressed and these types of accidents happen, and more at this time. Something similar had already happened here … and the truth is that these people instead of stopping, and this kind of thing happens, want to flee, because they think that by crossing the line they will be able to put aside what they did, ” said the witness in dialogue with the aforementioned portal.
