Sylvia Sánchez, Wife Of Manlio Fabio Beltrones, Dies

Sonora journalist Luis Alberto Medina confirmed the death of Sylvia Sánchez, wife of former PRI leader Manlio Fabio Beltrones, after several years of suffering from lupus. The event occurred at dawn this Thursday.

Sylvia Sánchez and Manlio Fabio Beltrones have a daughter, Sylvana Beltrones Sánchez, who is currently a senator of the Republic. They had 45 years of marriage.

In a message, Loret de Mola indicated that Sánchez de Beltrones died in Mexico City, after a long battle against systemic lupus erythematosus.

“This morning, Mrs. Sylvia Sánchez de Beltrones, wife of former Senator Manlio Fabio Beltrones, mother of Senator Sylvana Beltrones, passed away. It happened in Mexico City, after a long battle against Lupus. Rest in peace. The most sincere condolences to her family ”, wrote the journalist.

Another journalist who broke the news was Raymundo Riva Palacio, who also used the social network to report the death.

“For those interested: this morning, after fighting eight years against the painful disease of Lupus, Sylvia Sánchez, wife of Manlio Fabio Beltrones, died, informed collaborators of the politician,” reported Riva Palacio.

According to reports, the PRI’s wife died around three in the morning, and her body will be veiled at a funeral home in the Del Valle neighborhood in Mexico City.

Sylvia Sánchez and Manlio Fabio Beltrones were married for 45 years, and together they had a daughter, Sylvana Beltrones Sánchez, who is currently a senator of the Republic for the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI).

Sylvia Sánchez received a degree in Psychology from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where she met Manlio Fabio, as he studied Economics at the same university.

During the mandate of Manlio Fabio Beltrones in Sonora, from 1991 to 1997, he created the social program Gift of life, with which medical and surgical support was provided to the population that needed it most in the entity. He also chaired the Beatriz Beltrones Foundation, which is in charge of fighting breast cancer. The latter’s work has been recognized by the United Nations (UN).

According to the Facebook page of the Beatriz Beltrones Foundation, this “is a civil association that is established with the aim of fighting cervical cancer and breast cancer.”

On the same page it is narrated that due to this evil, the Beltrones Sánchez family lost an important pillar of the family, Mrs. Beatriz Beltrones, mother of Manlio Fabio and grandmother of Sylvana Beltrones.

They say they are convinced that if they had detected the evil in time, Beatriz Beltrones would possibly still be alive, and for this reason, they decided to organize the organization to work for Mexican women in Sonora.

“However, today we are convinced that if the evil that afflicted him had been detected in time, perhaps we would still enjoy her presence. That is why in her memory we decided to work for Mexican women in a corner of the country that is Sonora, carrying out altruistic work through the Foundation that bears her name and focusing our fight on the most sensitive and effective part to turn cancer which is prevention through its timely detection ”, the page reads.

Just a few days ago, the Beltrones family was a topic of conversation, since it was announced that Sylvana Beltrones deposited 10.4 million dollars in the Private Bank of Andorra (BPA), between 2009 and 2010.

The information was released by the Spanish media EL PAÍS, who reported that the transaction was registered when Manlio Fabio’s daughter was 26 years old, did not hold any public office and her father was the coordinator of the PRI members in the Senate of the Republic.

The Spanish media announced that the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) was investigating the Beltrones family, including Sylvia Sánchez, for alleged irregularities related to hidden accounts in a bank in the European country Andorra.

It was announced that Luis Alejandro Capdevielle, lawyer, editor and substitute federal deputy in 2012 for Beltrones Sr., was also investigated.

After the accusations, Sylvana Beltrones denied having any account in Andorra and knowing the country.

“I do not have any bank account in Andorra nor do I know that country, because I have never visited it,” he explained in a statement released on his social networks.

“I am firmly convinced of transparency and accountability in public service, which is why during my professional life I have promptly complied with my fiscal and patrimonial obligations,” she added in the text where she clarified that her only  “possible link” with Andorra is that more than a decade ago she was a partner in a mercantile business called Habica, SA de CV,  which occupied a property owned by another person at Calle Julio Verne number 39 ″.

According to the explanation of the PRI legislator, said the property was sold in 2009 to Banca Privada D’Andorra.

As a result of this transaction,  the Private Bank installed its representation in the property, and its business, of which it did not explain the nature, had to close.

According to Manlio Fabio’s daughter, in order to receive payment for her investment in Habica, an account was opened in BPA, which was closed a decade ago.

“I reiterate: I am not the owner of any account or fund in Andorra. I understand the election times. Therefore these details. Mexico is a country of laws, ”Senator Beltrones closed in her statement.
