Dave Philips, guitarist for the band that accompanied the Pixies’ Frank Black for part of his solo career, The Catholics, passed away earlier this week. The news has been confirmed in their official profiles on social networks by the Boston band, where the musician has been remembered with the following words:

«Pixies we are devastated by the loss of guitarist Dave Philips, who is well-loved by all the bands and musicians who worked and played with him. He was a peaceful man, always spoke kindly to his fellow men, and loved life almost as much as his beloved daughter Marlowe. Those who knew him are better people because of his true sweetness »

At the time of writing these lines, the causes of death are unknown.
