José Alfredo Jiménez Jr , son of the Guanajuato composer of the same name, died this September 29.

The  National Association of Interpreters  ( ANDI ). reported the death of the son of José Alfredo Jiménez through his social networks:

“ The National Association of Interpreters communicates the sensitive death of interpreter partner José Alfredo Jiménez Jr.

So far, the causes of his death have not been released.

Composer and music producer, with a prolific career, his songs won many awards and were performed by great figures of the song.

We send our deepest condolences to his family and friends from the Board of Directors and the ANDI Oversight Committee ”.

José Alfredo Miguel Jiménez Gálvez was born on November 9, 1958. He was 62 years old. Like his father, he was born in Guanajuato.

He studied Electronic Systems Engineering at New York University but the music was his passion, so he became a composer and producer.

His beginnings in the music industry were carried out as a maintenance engineer in the International Music Department of RCA Victor de México.

Fugitivo, in collaboration with Reyli Barba;

Some of the interpreters of his compositions are Pedro Fernández, Tania Libertad, Lupillo Rivera, Banda El Recodo, Guardians of Love, Julio Preciado, Ana Bárbara, Vikki Carr, Lorenzo de Monteclaro, Juan Valentín, José José and Juan Gabriel, Paty Navidad, Ramiro Delgado (Bronco), Lorenzo Negrete, Jesús Monárrez, Los Yaguarú, Grupo Cañaveral, Garibaldi, Benjamín, Banda La Costeña, Norteños de Ojinaga, Alberto Ángel  El Cuervo , Los Abelardo, El Cejas y su Banda Fuego, Mariachi Reyna de Los Ángeles , Faithful from Tijuana and Julia Vari.

In addition to music, the son of José Alfredo Jiménez has also ventured into the political sphere, where he held positions as assistant and coordinator of electoral campaigns, as neighborhood representative and Ambassador of Tourism of the State of Guanajuato. In addition, it is in charge, together with the Tourism Secretariat of the State of Guanajuato and the Municipality of Dolores Hidalgo of the same state, the José Alfredo Jiménez International Festival.

The Jiménez family reported through a statement that the cause of death was sudden respiratory arrest; the composer died in a hospital in Mexico City where he was admitted due to various ills that complained to him.

The body of Jiménez Gálvez body will be veiled in Gayosso de Sullivan starting at 8:00 p.m. this Wednesday.

He is survived by his wife Verónica Meza García and his sister Paloma.

The author of “Ella” and “Caminos de Guanajuato” was married to Paloma Gálvez with whom he had two children, José Alfredo and Paloma.

Later, “El Rey” had a relationship with Mary Medel, with whom he had four children, Guadalupe, José Antonio, Martha, and José Alfredo.

José Alfredo Jiménez Sr. died on November 23, 1973, when he was 47 years old, as a result of liver cirrhosis.
