Daddy Yankee fans can see the tremendous DY2K20 digital concert this Friday, December 4, on his YouTube channel. “I wanted to give a Christmas present to all my fans during the pandemic, bring the party home for free, bring them joy in such difficult times,” the reggaeton star told The Associated Press.

Daddy Yankee is the host of this virtual concert that will be divided into three parts. This December 4, we will see the first part; the others will come out on December 14 and 21. “This Friday, you have an appointment to see the best reggaeton concert completely free !!!”, Yankee announced on his Instagram account. In the video ad on Instagram, Daddy Yankee previews the concert he called “DY2K20”. The reggaeton pioneer is shown performing “Machucando” from his 2005 album Barrio Fino en Directo. Behind him is a vast 3D generated gorilla. Below you can see the video.

The truth is that a year after a series of concerts in Puerto Rico that ended up being the last because of the pandemic. Now Daddy Yankee brings those performances to YouTube as a Christmas present for fans around the world. “DY2K20”.

Daddy Yankee enjoyed great success in his 12 sold-out concerts in December 2019, at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico. DY2K20 will be a digital compilation of those 12 concerts of “Con Calma Pa’l Choli.” Among the special guests at those concerts, he was accompanied by his colleagues, such as Ozuna, Wisin y Yandel, Bad Bunny, and Nicky Jam.

Since the coronavirus pandemic began, Yankee has mostly stayed out of the spotlight. In an interview with Fairfield Citizen, he said that “while the pandemic has hit many hard, it has also allowed him to do something he had not done in three decades: focus on his health and rest.”

But he got so much rest that he gained 40 pounds during the first months of his quarantine. “Maybe because of anxiety… I started eating and eating and eating, and I got fat like never before. I came to weigh 230 pounds. But I got back to my normal weight 10 years ago. That was my focus, “said the singer. “I dedicated myself to my health and to something that I did not know, which was rest … I began to learn to live calmly and appreciate it … And I feel different, I feel in a completely new stage.”
