During this weekend (from January 21 to 25), PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 users will be able to play the title Ghost Recon Breakpoint from Ubisoft for free; In the case of PC users, we tell you how you can get hold of the game for free during the weekend and, of course, what minimum and recommended hardware requirements you will need to do so.
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint is a tactical action and first-person shooter video game developed by Ubisoft and corresponds to the eleventh installment of the Ghost Recon saga. It was released on October 4, 2019, so it is a relatively old title already but, even so, a considerably good gaming PC is required to be able to enjoy it to the fullest.
How to play Ghost Recon Breakpoint for free this weekend
The promotion runs from today January 21 at 10:00 and will last until Monday 25 at 18:00 Spanish time, time in which the game is also on sale for just 8.99 euros and they have declared that all the progress players make in this free trial will continue if they choose to purchase the game during the promotional period.
To get it for free, you just have to go to the Epic Games Store page and claim it as always on this platform, but if you don’t want to use this method you can also do it from Ubisoft Connect and, in fact, this second method is the one you should use if you intend to play on the console version.
You must bear in mind that if you do not acquire the full version of the game, once the free period has passed, it will be blocked in your game library and you will not be able to access it (it will not disappear because you will have it installed, but it will only let you buy or uninstall it).
Minimum and recommended requirements to play
These are the minimum and recommended requirements that the developer gives to be able to enjoy the game on PC; Keep in mind that the minimum requirements refer to 1080p resolution and 30 FPS with the graphics settings on low, while the recommended ones are for 1080p and 60 or more FPS with the graphics settings on high.
|Minimum requirements (1080p @ 30 FPS)||Recommended Requirements (1080p @ 60+ FPS)|
|Processor||AMD Ryzen 3 1200
Intel Core i5-4460
|AMD Ryzen 5 1600
Intel Core i7-6700K
|RAM||8 GB||16 GB|
|Graphics card||Radeon R9 280X
GeForce GTX 960
|Radeon RX 480
GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
|OS||Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 (64-bit only)||Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 (64-bit only)|
|Disc space||50 GB||50 GB|
Ghost Recon Breakpoint is not too demanding as far as the processor is concerned, but the developer is already recommending us to have 16 GB of RAM if we want to play it with high graphics settings, and it is not something trivial for a 2019 game. tells us that we will need an RX 480 from AMD or a GTX 1060 from NVIDIA, but in both cases, they recommend at least 6 GB of graphics memory, so neither the 4 GB version of the AMD GPU nor the one from 3 GB from NVIDIA. High resolution textures require a lot of graphics memory, and it is not that we are facing a game that is too old after all.
Of course this game is compatible with 4K resolution, but since Ubisoft does not indicate the requirements for this we must “invent them”. If you intend to play Ghost Recon Breakpoint at 4K resolution and you want to have at least 60 stable FPS, we would recommend the same as the recommended ones but obviously you will need a better graphics card, and in this case we recommend a Radeon RX 5700 XT from AMD or else an NVIDIA RTX 2080 SUPER to achieve this and that the FPS does not drop.
