The Hardstyle scene woke up in deep sadness this Sunday morning, May 1st. Australian DJ and producer Ryan Biggs, better known by his stage name DJ Delete, was found dead at his home on Saturday night, around 8 pm, around 3 pm Brasília time, in the city of Waalwijk in the Netherlands. Suspicions indicate death by overdose.
Ryan Biggs moved to the Netherlands in 2013 to further develop his career. He became known as the King of Gated Kicks, a type of kick that is very successful in the music scene. With rare and always highly anticipated releases, he has established himself as one of the mainstays of Raw Hardstyle as we know it today.
The DJ had stints at Theracords, Spoontech, and End Of Line labels. Having performed at the biggest Hard Dance events in the world, such as Defqon.1, Decibel, QAPITAL, Loudness, Q-BASE, Dominator, Masters of Hardcore, Hard Bass, and Supremacy. DJ Delete collects as one of his greatest hits the live act known as VIP, a set in which he plays edits of his greatest hits.
His biggest hit right now is “ Payback ”, a collaboration with MC Tha Watcher, which has so far collected almost 2 million hits on YouTube and 8 million on Spotify.
Ryan had been struggling with a serious case of depression, where he has reached the level of canceling concerts and releases of his songs due to his mental state. Family, fans, and friends were excited about a possible return to just 3 weeks at the Rebirth Festival. When he was about to abandon another scheduled performance, Delete found the strength to take the stage, supported by DJ Cryex, performing 2 sets during the weekend, smiling.
His last post was on April 15th, where he said that his rebirth process had begun, thanking all the fans who have supported him in recent years as he faces this fight against depression and that the wait would be worth it.
Unfortunately, the support of his peers and fans was not enough to face this illness. Several artists and fans paid tribute on social media. We hope Ryan finds the peace he’s been looking for… his absence will be missed.
