NCIS: Los Angeles, the hit crime drama on the CBS network, lost the performer of one of the series’ most famous gangsters. On Thursday afternoon, it was confirmed that actor Ravil Isyanov passed away in the city of Los Angeles last month according to Deadline.

Russian actor Ravil Isyanov died aged 59 after a long battle with cancer. He was known for playing Russian villains in hit movies such as Transformers: The Hidden Side of the Moon (2011), 007 vs. GoldenEye (1995), and Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005).

The artist’s death occurred on September 29, but it was only confirmed by his agent, Fredrick Levy, on Wednesday (13), to the Entertainment Weekly portal.

“Even while battling this terrible disease, Ravil remained brave and tough, bringing his best to the set and working to the end,” said the manager. “He will be sorely missed.”

In series, Isyanov has had roles as Russian delegate Anton Petrov in Agents of SHIELD  and interrogator Ruslan in The Americans. He recently appeared on the Netflix Glow series as motel owner Gregory.

Among other productions with the presence of Isyanov, there are also the films The Saint (1997), K-19: The Widowmaker (2002), and An Act of Liberty (2008). The actor leaves his wife and a daughter.
