Mira Furlan, best known for her roles as Delenn on “Babylon 5” and Danielle Rousseau on “Lost,” died on Wednesday. She was 65.

Mira Furlan was born in September 1955 in Zagreb (Croatia, ex-Jugoslavia), where she graduated from the local Academy of Dramatic Arts .
In her native country she was a member of the Croatian National Theater , where she worked performing throughout the country. Married to film director Goran Gajic , they both emigrated to the United States in 1991, due to the intolerable political circumstances that afflicted their country at the time.
After a prolific career in Croatian film and television, Mira landed her first role in the United States, for which she would become known to the general public. This was Ambassador Delenn’sin the science fiction series ” Babylon 5 “, a role she repeated in three of the television films made based on the series and for which she won the Sci-Fi Universe Award , in the category Best Supporting Actress in the years 1996 and 1997.
In 2004 she was selected for the role of Danielle Rousseau in the series ” Perdidos (Lost) “, a character she played over 18 episodes between 2004 and 2010. She has also been a guest artist in series such as ” Navy NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service “,” Night Stalker “or” Spider-Man “.
In recent years, she has occasionally returned to work in her country, standing out in feature films and some television roles; and receiving numerous awards for her performances, including two Golden Arenas Awards (the local equivalent of the Oscars ), in the Best Actress category .
In her personal life, the actress and her husband have a son named Marko Lav Gajic , born in 1998 in the city of Los Angeles.
