Known for immortalizing countless music legends in iconic images, from David Bowie to the Sex Pistols, British photographer Mick Rock died at the age of 72. The information was released by the family this Friday (19). The causes of death are currently unknown.
“It is with great regret that we announce that our beloved psychedelic renegade Mick Rock has taken the Jungian journey to the other side,” family members wrote on their Twitter account, referring to psychoanalyst Carl Jung.
“Anyone who has had the pleasure of living in his orbit knows that Mick was much more than ‘the man who photographed the 1970s ‘” as he was popularly known.
The family did not specify the circumstances of the death of the photographer, born in London, in 1948, and graduated in Medieval and Modern Languages from Cambridge University.
“He was a poet of photography, a true force of nature who spent his days doing exactly what he liked, always in his deliciously scandalous way,” adds the message.
