Martha Henry, Canadian theater legend and a key contributor to the Stratford Festival, has passed away, the ceremony was confirmed in an email to CBC News.
Festival organizers said she died of cancer at her home in Stratford, Ond, shortly after midnight, surrounded by her family. It was only 12 days after she delivered the final performance of Edward Alby. Three tall women At the Festival.
“Our hearts are broken,” said art director Anthony Simolino in a press release.
“The name Martha Henry is synonymous with art, brilliance, and beauty. As an actress, her performance became legendary… her responsibility for the theater was so deep that it helped her bear the pain and cope with it. THREE TALL WOMEN. Her life became an art. ”

Martha Henry was born in Detroit in 1938 and moved to Canada in 1959 after graduating from the Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie Mellon University) in Pittsburgh. She soon presided over the Stratford Festival.
The festival said a tribute to Henry would be held “at the appropriate time.”
