Her relatives have communicated that they are “deeply saddened” by the death of her”dear mother”. In her words, she died “peacefully” surrounded by her family at her Surrey home on Sunday night. Cotton, the character she brought to life, was one of the oldest in British fiction. She has appeared in over 2,000 episodes since the series premiered in 1985. Her last appearance was in 2020.
