For more than 30 years, he was part of the cast of the show which reached the threshold of 20,000 episodes in 2020 and stacked for four additional seasons. Then septuagenarian had bowed out in 2006 when his character died. The actor still appeared regularly in new episodes of the series through flashbacks.

Over the course of his career, Jerry Douglas has also appeared in supporting roles in “Melrose Place”, “Cold Case” or “Barnaby Jones”.

Officializing the announcement of his death, the CBS channel specified that his death had occurred “as a result of a brief illness” . “He will be sadly missed by the family on this series,” the channel added in a tweet.
