The Youtube star, MBE awarded Jamal Edwards died at the age of 31. Jamal Edwards, recognized for founding media platform SBTV, which helped catapult (grime) and a wave of latest artists to a worldwide audience, died on Sunday morning elderly 31.
At the age of 24, the young Edward achieved a lot. However, in his entire career in music he performed the following duties, he was a music director, author, DJ, entrepreneur, designer, and was an awarded winner of the MBE in 2014.
Edwards was the son of the singer and the presenter of the lunchtime chat show, Loose Women Brenda Edwards, she announced his son Edwards’ death and was “completely devastated”.
The careers of a number of the world’s successful musicians, who are famous for giving hits – which includes Ed Sheeran, Dave, and Jessie J in a protracted list – have been released thru SBTV, Edwards’ music platform.
Edwards stated he commenced SBTV “on a £20 phone and launched it when he was in high school. However, years later his idea turned out into a leading online youth broadcaster. The channel was launched in 2006 and has targeted more than 1billion views.
The channel, named after Edwards’ rap call SmokeyBarz, featured early tracks from artists which included Stormzy, Rita Ora, Krept & Konan, Bugzy Malone, and more.
In 2017 in an interview, Edward told the guardian, “I always looked on grime like the punk movement, in terms of lyrics and rebellious attitude,”
Edwards was born in Luton to Brenda Adwards in 1990 and brought up in Acton, west London. He went to Ealing College and received a BTec diploma in media moving image. Moreover, he was a very hard-working guy in order to support himself financially, he worked at retail chain Topman. On the other side, he was also developing SBTV.
Edwards undertook tremendous philanthropic work, which includes mental health and investing in youth centers for the young generation. Moreover, he worked on a project to break taboos about men’s mental health in a video. He was seen speaking about his own anxiety and depression. Furthermore, he launched a project in 2021released a venture aimed toward refurbishing and reopening teenagers centers.
Moreover, Edwards was also an ambassador for the Prince of Wales’s Charity Trust.
