Mitchell Ryan, known to the general public for the role of the evil general Peter McAllister in the first chapter of the successful Lethal Weapon franchise, passed away at the age of 88.
The causes of death were immediately spread by his daughter Denise Freed and shared by The Hollywood Reporter: the actor allegedly died of congestive heart failure in his home in Los Angeles.
Ryan had also taken part in small-screen productions, including the TV series Dark Shadows (1966-1967) in which he played ex-con Burke Devlin and the sit-com Dharma & Greg.- was rich drunk dad Edward Montgomery. Then there are numerous parts in genre films, from action to Western, including Monty Walsh, a man hard to die, in which he starred alongside Jack Palance.
His appearances alongside Clint Eastwood were also famous, both dating back to 1973: The stranger without a name and Una 44 Magnum for Inspector Callaghan. He also starred with other Hollywood legends, including Robert Mitchum in Peter Yates ‘ Friends of Eddie Coyle. In addition to Lethal Weapon, Ryan also appeared in another famous film saga, Halloween, in particular in the sixth chapter – Halloween 6 – The Curse of Michael Myers.
Immediately after the announcement of his death, some of his colleagues decided to share a memory of him on social media. One of the first posts to appear on Facebook was that of ex-colleague Kathryn Leigh Scott, who also appeared in Dark Shadows: “My sweet and beloved friend Mitch died early this morning. He was a great gift in my life. . I keep my warm memories of his beautiful soul. I have a broken heart.”
In addition to Denise, the actor leaves behind his wife Barbara, nephews Ashley, Jacqueline, Olivia, Kaila, and Noah, daughter-in-law Elizabeth and sister-in-law Mary. His last appearance dates back to 2017, in the TV movie A Stranger in the House.
