Ivan Reitman, a Slovak Canadian producer and director who directed “Ghostbusters” has died in his sleep at the age of 75 at his home in Montecito, California. Other directorial hits include “The Twins,” starring Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger, and “Dave – President for a Day.”

No cause of death has been revealed. Ivan Reitman’s cause of death is still not announced in the media. No family member has come forward to the media to announce his death.

His popularity is linked to “Ghostbusters”, of which he directed the first two films, in 1984 and 1989, and produced the recent “Ghostbusters: Legacy”, directed by his son Jason. Reitman died in his sleep at his home in Montecito, California. Other directorial hits include “The Twins,” starring Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger, and “Dave – President for a Day.” As a producer on his resume are David Cronenberg’s early films and “Animal House”.

Born in Komarno on October 27, 1946, Reitman emigrated to Canada with his family as a child. Immediately after graduating from McMaster University, he began working in numerous films. Among these were the debut credits of a young and visionary director, David Cronenberg: “The Demon Under the Skin” and “Rabid Thirst for Blood”. But Reitman’s career changed when he produced in 1978 “Animal House”, a film directed by John Landis that brought the star of John Belushi to everyone’s attention.

The career

Reitman immediately bonded with the group of actors gravitating around Saturday Night Live. Bill Murray starred in his directorial debut, “Meatballs,” in 1979, followed by “Stripes – A Platoon of Crackers” where Murray was alongside Harold Ramis. Ramis himself, along with Dan Aykroyd, will be the author of the story and the script of “Ghostbusters – The Ghostbusters”. He also directed the sequel five years later, but in the meantime, he had signed other hit comedies such as “Legal Eagles” and “The Twins”. With Arnold Schwarzenegger, he formed a partnership that would lead to direct him in two other films appreciated by the public: “A policeman in elementary school” and “Junior”.
