Local media report that the interpreter died this Wednesday, after suffering an accident a day earlier on a track at La Rosière in Savoy (France).
A statement from the family sent through their representative to the AFP agency reported the worst news. Gaspard Ulliel has died this Wednesday at the age of 37, after having suffered a ski accident, while he was at the La Rosière resort in Savoy. According to the French press, it was the day before that he had to be transferred by helicopter to the Grenoble University Hospital with serious injuries, bruises, and in an unconscious state.
A few hours later, the tragic outcome occurred and, although there is still an open investigation and the causes must be clarified, local media explain that the actor collided with another skier, which caused him severe head trauma, but the doctors could not do anything to save his life. His death has shocked the thousands of followers that Ulliel had around the world and it did not take long for the first reactions of important personalities from the neighboring country to appear.
“Gaspard Ulliel grew up with the cinema and the cinema grew with him. They loved each other madly,” Prime Minister Jean Castex writes on his Twitter account. “What a great sadness and what a shock!” comments the deputy mayor of Paris Audrey Pulvar. Professional colleagues such as the Oscar winner for best actor Jean Dujardin have also wanted to pay him a heartfelt tribute by publishing photos of the interpreter and sending messages of encouragement to the family.
The son of two stylists, he successfully played the famous fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent in the biopic directed by Bertrand Bonello in 2014, but it was not the only role that brought him fame. Born on November 25, 1984, in Boulogne-Billancourt, Hauts-de-Seine (France), after finishing high school he began to study cinema at the University of Saint-Denis.
