Gary Waldhorn is dead. British actor, born in London in 1943, was best known to the general public for his role as David Horton in each episode of the comedy series “Pastor on Heels” (org. “The Vicor of Dibley”). The men died unexpectedly, although “peacefully” and most likely of natural causes on Monday 10 January, family members reported to the media.
In a special announcement made to the press by his son Josh, we read:
“[Actor] with a classical education, it was in the theater that he shone the most. He leaves a legacy of performances on Broadway, in the West End, and in our television lounges. Two grandsons say goodbye to him: Cooper and Baylel, and son Josh. We miss him terribly. ”

Gary Waldhorn was a theater and television actor. A graduate of the Yale School of Drama, he was known for his participation in adaptations of Shakespeare’s plays. His most famous role was as Henry IV in the drama of the same name at the London theater The Old Vic. In interviews, the actor mentioned that it was a fulfillment of his innermost dreams since he saw Richard Burton on stage as Henry V as a child. “I knew then that I wanted to be a Shakespearean actor,” he told the British Guardian.
Waldhorn was also known for his appearances on television. During his long career, he has appeared in a wide variety of television productions – from “The Sweeney” to “Brush Strokes” to “Hotel Babylon”, but his most famous role was undeniably that on the series “Pastor in Heels”. The British series ran from 1994 to 2007, and Waldhorn appeared in every episode, winning fans with his every line.

After the news of the man’s death spread around the world, actress Dawn French, who plays the main character in the series, posted a black and white photo of the man on her social media as part of her condolence.
Samuel West, who played the son of Henry IV alongside Waldhorn, wrote:
“Sad news about Gary Waldhorn. He played my father, the title king in both parts of” Henry IV “in Old Vic in 1997 (here with my real father in the form of the ultimate non-father, Falstaff). Nice man and great actor. Rest in peace”.
