“I am saddened to announce the passing of acclaimed actor Fred Ward, who passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022, at the age of 79,” said the statement quoted by the Post and replicated by The Sun newspaper, which also detailed that he was a cook who served in the United States Air Force and then went to acting school and began his artistic career with a role in an Italian telefilm in 1973.
