Voice actor Billy Kametz dies at the age of 35.
It is with sadness that we bid farewell to Billy Kametz, who passed away on June 9th at the age of 35. Our thoughts go to his family, friends, and all those close to him. He was unexpectedly diagnosed with stage four colon cancer about two months ago and has moved home to Pennsylvania for treatment.
Those around him were shaken, except for Billy, who declared war on the disease and, as always, was bursting with positivity. A GoFundMe fundraiser was set up to help, and fans around the world rushed to donate. Billy appeared blissful and immensely grateful for the level of support he has received from near and far.
Over the course of his short life, the voice actor has lent his voice to numerous anime and video game characters, bringing them to life with unmistakable energy and infectious enthusiasm. Characters like Josuke Higashikata (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure), Naofumi Iwatani (The Rising of the Shield Hero), Takuto Maruki (Persona 5 Royal) or Nenji Ogata (13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim) should be mentioned.
Kametz was known for playing Blue in Pokémon Masters, as well as Ash’s Rotom. Another of his outstanding roles was that of Ferdinand von Aegir from Fire Emblem: Three Houses. From Nintenderos we deeply regret this loss and send our best wishes to his colleagues, friends, and family.
If you would like to get involved, you can send your memories and condolences to the local funeral service, or make a donation in Billy’s honor to the non-profit Colon Cancer Coalition Foundation, which raises awareness about colon cancer and supports affected patients and their families. Both are possible under the officially published obituary, which you can reach here. In addition, we can offer you German resources such as the network against colon cancer, the Felix Burda Foundation, and the German Cancer Aidsuggest. Of course, you can also use the comments section of this article to share your fondest memories of Billy Kametz and his work with our community.
We have no update regarding his funeral.
