William Hurt, ‘Kiss of the Spider Woman’ actor, dies at 72.

“It is with great sadness that the Hurt family mourns the passing of William Hurt, beloved father, and Oscar-winning actor, on March 13, 2022, one week shy of his 72nd birthday. He passed away peacefully, among his family, of natural causes. The family asks for privacy”, says a statement sent by his son, Will, to the website “Deadline”.
In 2018, it was reported that Hurt had terminal prostate cancer and that the tumor had spread to his bones.
“O Beijo da Mulher Aranha” was directed by Argentine-born Brazilian filmmaker Hector Babenco and also starred Sônia Braga. He was also nominated for best picture, best director, and best-adapted screenplay, but only won in the actor category, with William Hurt.
Among the other films for which William Hurt became known are “Marks of Violence” (2005), “Children of Silence” (1986), and “Behind the scenes of the news” (1987), for which he was also nominated for an Oscar, in addition to from “Lost in Space” (1998) “Amazing Journeys” (1980).
He also played General Thaddeus Ross in several Marvel “Avengers” films – most recently “Black Widow” in 2021.
